OUT WITH KENNY DALGLISH?

“And Liverpool is the 2012 Carling Cup champions” that echoed through Wembley Stadium about 16 days ago. Everyone thought that this win will boost Liverpool FC’s already crumbling season and maybe inspire them to 4th place finish. However, within 7 days of that historic win, Liverpool suffered a huge setback to their quest for the top 4 finish, when they lost 1-2 to Arsenal at Anfield, though Liverpool played superb game still they could not win it. A missed penalty and hitting the woodwork twice and some great finishing from RVP did the trick for Arsenal. This would also be the first home defeat for the Reds this season.  The dust of that home defeat to Arsenal did not even settle yet and Reds were condemned to their second successive league defeat in as many weeks. This time around the Reds deserved to lose at the Stadium of Light. It was a match easily worth forgetting for every Red all over the world.
It has just been 16 days since Kenny Dalglish lead Liverpool to first trophy since 2006. However that achievement seems to be forgotten by some “Fans” who apparently want him out of the club. I have been reading a lot of things on twitter and other sites related to Liverpool FC about the displeasure few people have in Kenny.
I would not go into the debate “we should not criticize Kenny because he has done this or that in the past”. Because everyone knows what he has done for us in the past, so I feel we don’t need to go back to those days. However, if we are talking about the present day, then I would very much like to point out that he is the Man to lead us to our first trophy in 6 years. And there could be one more in the same season. So I don’t think that it is a bad season. If we put our focus to the league then yes, I would have to admit that things did not the way we had expected when the season began. He spent huge amount of money on players who have not performed barred Bellamy and Enrique, almost everyone has more or less disappointed us throughout the season with inconsistent performances. In the league there were a lot of matches which we should have won easily, but missed penalties and the woodwork (mind you we have hit it more than 30 times till now) cost us the 3 points and these matches either ended in a draw or a loss. We all saw how the team played throughout the season so far and I don’t think it is only Kenny’s mistake or his fault. If he is responsible for the poor showing then I think the entire team is equally to be blamed. We all have spoken widely about Kenny’s line-ups and team selection. However, under Kenny every senior player has got fair share of chances but results have remained the same. So, if Kenny is to go then I guess we should as well change the entire team and bring in new players. But that is not my point, my point however, is that yes, in the league we haven’t had the luck but we are doing well in the domestic cups. Am I disappointed at the position we are in right now, yes, I am very much and it hurts more to look back and realize that we should have been in a better position had it not been for the missed chances. However, we all know that the team has played great football in the league so far.
In my view King Kenny is doing his job perfectly. What he needs right now is patience from true supporters and what he does not need right now is the so called “fans” who are happy only when the team is winning. I am not saying that I love losing or drawing a game but yes, we can’t always win though. We need to understand that it’s his first full season in charge and he is building a team that would be great in next 2-3 seasons. All we need is patience. I hate to say it but we should learn patience from our bitterest rivals Man Utd. Fergie joined United in 86 as the manager and it was only in 89-90 season that he won the first trophy. Kenny is doing far better than that; he has won 1 trophy already and in the line to win another one. Not reaching top 4 would surely hurt but that is not the end, this is just the beginning. King Kenny has already instilled the belief in us and he will change all these beliefs into reality. It is just a matter of time.

IN KENNY WE TRUST. LONG LIVE THE KING.
